My journey into homemade dog food

The journey into feeding my dog an all homemade dog food diet is quite different to say the least.

I want to start off with some background about my pooch. His name is Todd and his bark is bigger than his bite! Lol he has little dog syndrome. He's a 6 year old Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a nice sleek black coat. He loves going on walks, meeting new friends at the dog park, and nap time with his family.

He's been on this diet for about 3 days now and the big reason I wanted to make this change was those strange ingredients in store bought dog food. I want to give him better nutrition than that. Second reason is I love making food so this makes me jolly being able to make dinner for Todd. Not only can I save money, but I can make the food in big batches and freeze them in containers so they're ready for meal time.

I started off by feeding Todd what I had on hand which was hamburger and peas, but I finally went to the grocery store and got the ingredients to make him a wholesome meal, which is a mix of hamburger, peas, rice, pineapple, and spinach. So far I have noticed him being more energetic and happy.

There's deffinatly unusual behaviors that come with this change, like trying to eat the cats poop and him being conctipated. I've never ever seen a dog get into a litter box and try to eat the "leftovers." It took me back a liittle.

It's been about a week since Todd's been on his homemade dog food diet and it's been nothing but fun and healthy! I've been feeding him a mix of pineapple, spinach, peas, white rice, and chicken. Sometimes I mix it up by feeding him hamburger one week and chicken the other.

Honestly it makes me feel a little closer to him like he's my little son and there's awesome health benefits for him such as, he doesn't have stinky breath anymore, his eyes seem to be healthier (more vibrant), and the other thing I have noticed is he seems to be a lot happier. I recommend weighing him once a day to make sure he's not gaining too much weight or losing weight.
